Cedar Breaks is one of my favorite parks in Utah. I like to call it a “mini Bryce Canyon”, as it has a very similar landscape, just on a smaller scale. There are a lot of hiking options in the park, and the surrounding area is absolutely stunning.

On our second and last day in Vernal, we had planned to drive to Flaming Gorge, explore what we could, and be home in time for dinner (home being 3 hours away). However, last minute we found ourselves finding some local cabins and deciding to spend one more night, if they were open.

Last Spring, my dad and I drove to the middle of nowhere, to see if we could find and photograph some of the wild horses. We did find them, and the photos ended up being some of my favorite that I’ve ever taken! Fast forward to a year later, we decided it was time we took my fiancé out to see the wild horses, too.

This area is filled with beautiful rock formations and rivers that create a stunning sight, even in the dead of winter. We visited Turtle Rock, found ancient petroglyphs, and walked along riverbeds at the base of canyon walls.
