Yellowstone and Beyond Pt. 2
continuing on from my Idaho posts
and
After exploring the hot pots,
and I headed to see Old Faithful- a must for any
traveler.
We took some time to warm up inside the visitor center and look at souvenirs.
Then we headed outside to make sure we had the best seat in the house for the show. Old Faithful did not disappoint- shooting somewhere around 5,000 gallons of water about 150 feet into the air! Isn't nature spectacular?

After the show, it was time for some more exploring.
There were more hot pots around Old Faithful that we enjoyed seeing. Unfortunately, my favorite part was this sign. I don't know why I find it so hilarious. Perhaps it's the boys hat flying off his head, or the fact that he found it a good idea to stand right on a geyser. Or perhaps it's his sister pointing or the dad completely ignoring both his children. Whatever it is, I love it.
When the scenery in Yellowstone isn't geysers and hot pots- it's trees, mountains, and rivers; which I love. So we definitely made time to stop and take in our surroundings.
What a wondrous sight. I could definitely live in the woods, tucked away, somewhere.
Our other exciting animal encounter was found on the same side of the river as us; with a few elk. We were able to get so close... almost too close, and the elk made sure we knew to keep our distance. But they allowed us some fabulous shots, first.
The day was fading all too soon, so it was time to head back. We wanted time to explore the town of West Yellowstone, which ended up being a mistake. Since it was just after the government shutdown and the end of the season, it turned out to be a bit of a ghost town. We could have spent much more time exploring the park, but it was home for pizza, ice cream, and a movie instead; which was much warmer, anyways.
This trip was short, but it couldn't have come at a better time. I only wish I could do it all again (especially since I've needed the relief, again). I can't thank
enough for letting me visit and for adventuring with me.
