With Halloween right around the corner I couldn't resist picking up these fun Monster Cereals from Target the other day. Not only are they fun to eat with milk, but I put together a quick and easy sweet treat that you can serve to your friends, family, or guests at your next Halloween party. Using the
variety, I put a spin on the classic crispy treats that people know and love. After I was through baking, I decided to cut out and assemble the castle that is made complete when you purchase all three varieties of General Mills Monster Cereals. It was a fun and easy craft to do on an afternoon and would even make a fun item to include in a Boo kit.
The
Count Chocula® Crispy Treat only takes a few minutes to make and can serve quite a few, making it perfect for your next spooky gathering.
Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Serving Size: 1x2 inch bar
Ingredients:
Count Chocula® Monster Cereal (whole box)
1 pkg of miniature marshmallows
2 pkgs of white chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
orange food coloring
Directions:
In a sauce pan over low heat, melt the butter and marshmallows and stir constantly. Pour the
Count Chocula® Monster Cereal into a large bowl and add the marshmallows and butter once they are melted.
Once the cereal is coated with marshmallows, press it into a greased baking dish.
In a clean sauce pan over low heat, melt 2 bags of white chocolate chips. Once the chocolate has reached a smooth consistency, remove about 1/2 cup and place it in a frosting bag, then quickly stir in a few drops of orange food coloring to the remaining chocolate. Once you have your desired color, pour the [now] orange chocolate over the cereal and smooth it out. Taking your [still] white chocolate that is in a frosting bag with a fine tip [or you can snip off a corner of a plastic bag] draw on your spider webs. I kept mine in the corners of my treat but you could also cut them into individual bars and decorate each one or do one large spiderweb in the middle.
Once your treat is ready, cut out your castle pieces from each box and assemble them together.
Now you've not only got a fun and sweet snack to share, but also a centerpiece for your next gathering or family night! Check out some other fun snack ideas
