We spent day two in Banff exploring from dawn until dusk. The day began with the sunrise at Morraine Lake where we were able to watch the sun rays reflect off the glassy water. I hadn't had a moment to myself in days, so I took this morning as an opportunity to find a solitary log and drink in my surroundings.

After a few hours and a quick snack, we split up into two groups to check out some different hikes.

Whitney

and I headed toward Consolation Lakes while

Delaina

and

Jake

set off for Sentinel Pass. The hike to Consolation Lakes was like stepping into a fairytale. With moss and mushrooms covering everything, a river rushing just off the path, and trees lining the entire trail, it felt like a dream. The last part of the hike had a bit of bouldering, which was a drastic and exciting change from the groomed trail. We sat on the lakeshore to eat some lunch while the local chipmunks made themselves at home on our laps, just hoping for a small morsel.

After our hikes, we drove out to Tekakkaw Falls. I had never seen such a powerful waterfall before. The water was moving with such great force that we all came away drenched. Before heading back to camp, we decided to get one last set of pictures along a riverbank. I spent my time collecting colorful river rocks and was amazed at their vibrancy - I wish I could have brought them home.

All too soon the sun had set, and it was time to rest up for the next day - which was sure to be just as full as this one had been.

to be continued...

*Note* Since i was traveling with two incredible photographers, I decided to let them do the camera work, and I stuck to photos with my phone, only. As soon as I'm done with my iPhone recap, I'll be sure to post some of their beautiful work!
